Fleecy perennial herb with slender woody root. Whole plant (except corolla) densely silvery tomentose with long soft hairs that completely obscure the leaf surface. Stems prostrate or procumbent, simple, 3-15 cm. Basal leaves (when present) obovate to obovate-oblong, crenate-dentate. Inflorescence dense, (at least above), 3-15 cm. Verticillasters 2-flowered. Cauline and lower floral leaves cuneate to oblong-cuneate, 3-fid to 1/4 or less into broad rounded lobes. Corolla yellow, 12-16 mm, shape as in A. chamaepitys. Nutlets transversely rugulose. Fl. 4-5(-6). Limestone rocks and rocky slopes, 50-1350 m.

Endemic. E. Medit. element. The material cited above from Konya province is atypical in its narrower, cuneate-oblong shorter-lobed leaves, thus approaching subsp. mesogitana. A. bombycina, raised from seed from the type locality, retained its characters when cultivated in England.
