Endemic lr.-Tur. element. In their original description of A. macrantha, Boissier & Huet suggested that it might be only a state of A. armeniaca found at lower altitudes. With the amount of material available for study this does appearto be true. Field observations would be helpful, and show whether morphological intermediates between the two varieties are restricted to their altitudinal overlap.
