  Entirely glabrous semi-shrub or perennial herb, with woody rootstock. Stems numerous, 20-35 cm, twiggy, ± lignescent at base, quadrangular, erect to ascending, simple to sparingly branched, with short branches; internodes 6-12, middle and upper elongate, 2-5.5 cm. Leaves in pairs, thickish, lower and middle c. 2-4 x 0.4-0.6 mm, linear-oblong or narrowly (ob)lanceolate, upper to 2 x 0.8 mm, lanceolate or lanceolate-oblong, vein prominent beneath, c. 0.1-0.3 mm broad. Inflorescence elongate-pyramidal, cymes subcapitate, ± dichasial, 1-5-flowered, terminal subsessile, lateral sometimes pedunculate, peduncle 1-6 mm. Bracts c. 1.5 mm, broadly (ob)ovate, obtusish, with mem-branous margins. Flowers sessile to subpedicellate. Corolla reddish, c. 2.5-3.5 mm, infundibular, lobes spreading, 0.8-1.5 mm, oblong or oblong-ovate, ob-tuse. Mericarps subglobose, c. 1.5 mm diam. Fl. 6. Limestone scree, c. 1100 m.

  Endemic. Ir.-Tur. element. A rather isolated member of this section, simi-lar to some extent to A. brachyantha Boiss. and to A. oppositifolia Reg. & Schmalh. subsp. grandiflora Ehrend., but differing from both in the total lack of indumentum.
  Sect. Cynanchicae (DC.) Boiss. Perennial herbs or low semi-shrubs. Leaves in whorls of 4, usually with hyaline mucros or awns. Thyrses with various degrees of development or reduction of main and lateral axes. Flowers ± numerous, shortly pedicellate to sessile, subtended by short bracts. Corolla 4-merous, hypocrateriform to infundibular, with tube equalling to 4(-5) x as long as the ± distinctly appendiculate lobes, purplish or yellowish green to white. Ovary obovoid. Style bifid, with globose stigmas. Mericarps usually papillose to tuberculate, sometimes hirsute, rarely smooth. Syn: Sect. Cynanchica Griseb.
