  Stems usually minutely glandular, sometimes also sparsely spiculate or hairy, rarely glabrous. Leaves narrowly to broadly ovate-cordate, 4-11 x 3.5-15 cm, shallowly to usually deeply 5-7-lobed, the lobes triangular or ovate to elliptic or linear-lanceolate, usually rather sharply and coarsely sinuate-toothed or lobulate, rarely subentire. Petiole glabrous or sparsely spiculate, sometimes sparsely minutely glandular, 1.5-7.5 cm. Male racemes 4.5-24 cm, glabrous or minutely glandular; sepals triangular to lanceolate, l.5-3.5(-6.5) mm; petals 3.5-7 x 1.5-4 mm. Female inflorescences usually corymbose, shorter than male; sepals lanceolate, 1.1-3.5 mm; petals 1.0-4.0 x 0.5-1.2 mm. Stigmas small, glabrous or sometimes with a few small papillae. Fruit black, 7.5-8 mm. Seeds 5.2-6 x 3.5-3.7 x 1.9-2.2 mm. Fl. 6. In forest, scrub and hedges, S50-1600 m.
