(1931).   Perennial with decumbent stems 15-25 cm, mostly with 1-3 long branches in lower 1/2 Leaves green and very slightly arachnoid above, densely grey-tomentose below, basal ones pinnatilobate to pinnatisect, segments broadly lanceolate, entire or with a single lobe at base, distinctly decurrent along rachis in upper 1/2 of leaf, terminal scarcely larger, cauline leaves ± lyrate with a large lanceolate terminal segment and 1-3 pairs of much smaller lateral segments. Involucre 16-18 x 12-15 mm, cup-shaped. Appendages large, (nearly) concealing basal part of phyllaries, 2.5-3 mm broad excl. cilia, whitish with brown central part, 10-14 cilia on each side (1.5-2.5 mm). Flowers purple, marginal slightly radiant. Achenes 5.5-6 mm; pappus 1-1.5 mm. Fl. 6-7. Clay hills, stony ground, 450-1550m.   Type: [Turkey A8/9 Erzurum] Prov. Kars, distr.
