  Stout perennial clothed in stellate hairs, stems up to 1·5 m. Basal leaves oblong-lanceolate, entire or crenate-serrate; cauline leaves lyrate with small lateral segments. Capitula 3-4·5 cm diam.; flowers cream or pale yellow. Involucral bracts ovate to triangular-lanceolate; receptacular bracts narrowly triangular-lanceolate, acuminate; both pubescent and adpressed-pilose, ciliate, straw-coloured. Involucel 7-10 mm long, pilose, with 4 long and 4 short apical teeth. Calyx cupuliform with ciliate setae. Fl. 7-8. Rocky slopes, 1370-2300 m.

  Endemic. Ir.-Tur. element. Related to C. stellipilis. A specimen from C6 Maraş (d. Göksun, Binboğa Da. above Yalak, 2000 m, D. 20159!) possibly belongs here but has ovate-oblong receptacular bracts which are blackish, and smaller (1-2 cm diam.) capitula.
