  Shrub or small tree up to 10 m; young shoots glabrous. Stipules deciduous. Leaves broadly elliptic or obovate-elliptic, 60-80(-120) x 30-50(-60) mm, finely, singly or doubly serrate, completely glabrous or slightly pubescent beneathwhen young; petioles 10-20 mm. Flowers 2-4, in umbels subtended by 2 small leaves; scales of involucre erect; pedicels 25-50 mm; hypanthium campanulate; petals white, 10-12 mm. Drupe globose, usually depressed at apex, c. 15 mm diam., pale red with yellowish, juicy, sour flesh; stone smooth. Fl. 3-5. Cultivated.
