A flowering specimen from A6 Sivas: Yildiz Da., Sariyer, 1700 m, 14 viii 1967, Tobey 2367, differs from C. macrospermum in its smaller (30-60 cm) stature, smaller leaves and leaf segments, 5-10 mm rays, and generally more delicate appearance. It may represent a separate taxon but more material, especially with mature fruit, is required.
The nomenclature of this species requires further investigation. The earliest name appears to be that based on Scandix gilanica Gmel. (Reise 3:303, 1774) and this is the epithet used in Grossheim (Fl. Kavk. 7:31, 1967). However the original description, and accompanying illustration, is inadequate and it has not been possible to trace the type specimen. While there is still doubt about the application of the name S. gilanica, the species is accordingly called Chaero-phyllum macrospermum.
