  Sturdy, erect or ascending, branched perennial, 20-40 cm. Leaves mostly ending in a tendril; leaflets 4-8-paired, subcoriaceous, cuneate-obovate, 7-18 x 4-13 mm, incised-serrate in the upper two thirds, pilose with numerous glandular and few eglandular hairs. Stipules incised. Peduncle 1-2-flowered, bearing a 3-14 mm subulate awn. Bracts shortly subdentate or entire, c. 1 mm. Flowers c. 20 mm, lilac. Calyx strongly gibbous, (9-)12-15 mm. Legume 20-25 mm, oblong-ellipsoid, glandular-villous. Seeds 2-3, rugulose and papillose. Fl. 5-8. Finus nigra forest, scrub, rocky slopes and screes, 1200-3300 m.

  N.W. & W. Iran, N. Iraq, Soviet Armenia. Ir.-Tur. element. Very variable in the form of its leaves and length of its calyx, variation being particularly marked in the vilayet of Bitlis (Nemrut Da.. Süphan Da.). The Persian C. oxyodon Boiss. has been found in N. Iraq, and should be looked for in Hakkari: it can easily be distinguished from C. anatolicum by its cuneate-orbicular leaflets and pale yellowish-green flowers.
