D. zonatus Fenzl, Pug. 11 (1842). Perennial, 7-30 cm. Leaves 25-80 x 0.4-2 mm, linear, long-acuminate, margins thick. Inflorescence freely branched, pedicels c. 5 mm. Bracteoles 4-6(-8), up to ¾ calyx length, ovate, membranous with scarious margin, or foliaceous with aristate points. Calyx 13-19 x 2.5-4.5 mm, subcylindrical, widest in the lower half, pale green tinged with purple, especially beneath the teeth; teeth 3.5-6.5 mm, narrowed from the base, margins scarious, apex mucronate. Petal limb 5-11 mm,dentate, barbulate, deep pink with a darker ring at the throat, yellowish beneath. 1.
