D. ferruginea L., Sp. Pl. 622 (1753). Sturdy biennial or perennial. Stem often solitary, to 1 m, unbranched. Cauline leaves oblong to oblong-lanceolate or linear, often pubescent on margin and on veins of lower surface. Raceme long, many-flowered, fairly to very dense; axis glabrous. Bracts linear-lanceolate. Calyx lobes ovate to oblong-elliptic, very obtuse, with a conspicuous scarious border, glabrous or with ciliolate margin. Corolla yellowish with brownish venation, (8-) 15-35 mm; tube inflated, middle lobe of lower lip ovate, obtuse, much longer than adjacent lateral lobes, shorter than tube. Capsule glabrous. Fl. 6-9. 1. Corolla 18-34 mm; middle lobe of lower lip c. 8 mm broad subsp. ferruginea 1. Corolla (8-)12-18 mm; middle lobe of lower lip c. 4 mm broad subsp. schischkinii subsp. schischkinii (Ivan.)
