J., British Flora Illustrations 1: t. 11 (1957).   Stems 30-100 cm, erect, unbranched, glaucous, with slightly inflated internodes; grooves 10-30. Leaf sheaths about as long as broad, whitish, with a black band at the top and bottom; teeth as many as grooves, quickly caducous. Cones 8-15 mm.
