E. gelidum Bunge, PL Abich 4, No. 36 (1858). Caespitose perennial herb. Stems up to 12 cm. Leaves small, the lower long-petiolate, the upper sessile, all oblong to oblong-spathulate, with a sparse indu-mentum of 2-3-fid hairs. Flowers usually bracteate. Petals orange, up to 15 mm. Siliquae erect-spreading, tetragonal or somewhat compressed. Style 2 mm. Stigma bilobed. Fl. 6. Slopes, up to 3400 m. Type: in Alpe Alages Armeniae Rossicae, Abich. Armenia. A9 Kars: nr. Sarıkamış, 13 vi 1904, Mikhailovski. B8 Erzurum: Erzurum, Calvert. B9 Bingöl: Bingöl Da., Radde 70. Transcaucasia. Ir.-Tur. element. Busch (Fl. Cauc. Crit., 3(4): 541) mentions an ebracteate form of this species occurring in Transcaucasia: this may perhaps belong to E. alpestre rather than E. gelidum. E. gelidum has been rather frequently recorded for Eastern Turkey, but most of these records cannot be accepted as the species has often been confused with others (e.g. E. alpestre, E. pulchellum). |
