In habit and leaf shape G. macrostylum comes very close to G. transversale Kar. & Kir. The following gathering combines the long style and glandular-pedicel indumentum of G. macrostylum with the leaves and habit of G. tuberosum subsp. tuberosum: A4 Kastamonu: Kastamonu to Küre, 1300 m, D. 21710! In the Samsun Da. material (D. 41771) the tuberous part of the rhizome is weakly developed and the flowers are clear pink with obsolescent venation; it may deserve subspecific recognition.
