G. sphaerocephala Fenzl ex Tchihat., Asie Min. Bot. 1: 205 (1860). Perennial, entirely glabrous or bracts and calyx glandular-hairy. Rhizomewoody. Stems several, woody at the base, rigid, 10-70 cm. Leaves linear, triquetrous or flat, 10-60 x 0.5-3 mm, narrowly acuminate. Inflorescence a dense globose cluster, 4-18 mm diam., with ± numerous, sessile flowers. Bracts oblong to ovate, acuminate. Calyx campanulate, 3-.-5 mm, with ± acuminate teeth. Petals 4.5-7 mm, white to pale pink, linear, obtuse. Seeds with acute tubercles. 1.
