H. lotoides Fenzl, Pug. 3 (1842). Perennial, densely hairy, ± prostrate herbs with a woody base, 10-20 cm. Leaves with 3-5 broadly ovate leaflets. Flowers solitary or up to 3 in an umbel, subtended by a trifoliate bract with leafy segments 5-10 mm long. Corolla 10-14 mm, yellow or purple. Lomentum shortly beaked, pubescent, 1-2.5 cm x c. 2 mm, with 2-6 segments. Fl. 4-5. Open woodland, limestone cliffs, s.1.-300 m.
