H. schischkinii Tzvelev in Not. Syst. Leningrad 21: 146 (1961).
Biennial herb. Stems erect, up to 30 cm. Hairs all short, simple and glandular. Leaves serrate, narrowly ovate to lanceolate. Sepals saccate, 7-8 mm, deciduous. Petals reddish violet, 20-28 mm, the claw strongly exserted from the calyx, the limb tapering into the claw. Siliquae erect, terete, obscurely torulose, glandular-pilose. Fl. 5-6. Igneous slopes, fields, etc., 1600-2000 m.
Type: Turkey, prov. Musch [B9 Muş], distr. Melazgert (Malazgird), in agris derelictis, 20 v 1916, Schischkin (holo. LE; photo. E!).
Armenia. A8 Erzurum: Kop Da., Aşkale to Bayburt, 1950-2000 m, Hub.-Mor. 10970! B8 Erzincan: Tercan to Aşkale, 1650 m, D. 29348!
Endemic; of doubtful affinity, perhaps closest to H. bottae. H. microcalyx Fourn. (Bull. Soc. Bot. Fr. 13: 351, 1866), based on a specimen at Paris collected by Aucher (109) in Armenia, is very similar to if not identical with this species. However, the holotype of H. microcalyx is such a scrappy specimen, lacking complete leaves and good flowers, that the application of the name microcalyx remains in doubt.
