M. tchihatchewii (Boiss.) Hand.-Mazz. in Ann. Nat. Hofm. Wien 26: 148 (1912). Syn: Alsine tchihatchewii Boiss. in Ann. Sci. Nat. ser. 4, 2: 247 (1854)!   Erect tufted perennial, 5-20 cm, finely puberulent throughout (usually eglan-dular) except on the sepals, rarely glabrous. Leaves finely setaceous, 1-veined except at base; leaf fascicles erect, slightly open at flowering time, leaves pointing forwards. Inflorescence of a 2-5-flowered terminal cluster and 0-3, 1-3-flowered, stalked, lateral clusters; pedicels 1-5 mm, the lower longer than the bracts, the upper shorter; bracts 3-veined and broadly membranous-margined at the base, becoming 1-veined, setaceous and long-pointed above. Sepals 3-4(-5) mm, linear-lanceolate, long-acuminate. Petals ovate-elliptic to narrowly elliptic, 0•5-0•9 x as long as sepals. Capsule narrowly cylindrical, shorter than the calyx. Fl. 6-8.
