Plants 10-45(-60) cm. Leaves erecto-patent, oblong-lanceolate, 3-7 near base. Spike ± dense, usually 10-30 cm, 3-8(-12)-flowered. Bracts lanceolate, lower exceeding flowers. Sepals rose, sometimes rose-violet, greenish-white or green, ovate-oblong, 8-13 mm, dorsal incurved over column. Petals darker coloured, ligulate to nearly triangular, sometimes slightly auriculate at base, 3-5 ram, shortly velvety. Labellum deeply 3-lobed, 7-10(-l 2) mm; lateral lobes villous, with short horns; middle lobe convex, oblong, fan-shaped when spread out, with small yellowish appendix at front, brownish- to brownish-purple velvety; speculum pale bluish with a yellowish border, ± distinctly encircling 1-3 velvety ovate spots. Column with apiculate connective.
