Mittel-Eur. 4(2): t. 1253 (İ922). Shrub or small tree up to 8 m; bark grey-brown, splitting: young shoots glabrous. Leaves lanceolate-elliptic to oblong-lanceolate, up to 16 x 3.5 cm, glandular-serrulate to eglandular-serrate, glabrous above, sparsely hairy on the underside of the midrib. Flowers pink to red, or sometimes white, 2.5-3.5 cm diam.; hypanthium urceolate. Drupe usually subglobose, 5-7 cm diam.; greenish-white to orange-yellow with a reddish cheek, tomentose, occasionally glabrous. Stone elliptic to round, deeply grooved, ribbed or pitted. Fl. 3-4.
