Stems 9-85(-130) cm, erect, or gen-iculately ascending from base, smooth, glabrous, 3-4-noded, lowest node some-times rather thickened. Leaf sheaths glabrous; ligule 1-6 mm, obtuse; blades 4-20 cm x 3-9 mm, linear, acuminate, glabrous, scabridulous on margins andtowards apex. Panicle l-6.2(-ll) cm x 6-8(-10) mm, cylindrical. Spikelets 3.5-4 mm (incl. aristate points), oblong, truncate. Glumes oblong, broadly hyaline on margins, ciliate on keel; lower glume softly hairy on margins; aristate point 1-1.6 mm. Lemma 1.4-2.1 mm, minutely hairy. Palea nearly equalling lemma. Anthers 1.5-2 mm. Fl. 6-8. Mixed deciduous woodland, water mea-dows, open mountain slopes, cultivated land, 420-2500 m.
