P. transcaucasica Tamamschian in Feddes Rep. 39: 325 (1935-36).   Differs from P. major in its less robust stems, which are prostrate at the base, in its shorter corolla, which only slightly exceeds the inner sepals, and in its capsule which is gradually tapered into a short stalk.   Type: Transcaucasia, inter Tiflis et Kodschory, Owerin.   Lazistan, N. Armenia. A7 Trabzon: banks of river Dermendere, Schischkin 142. B8 Erzurum: Tech Da., Erzurum, Huet. B1O Ağri: Ağri Da., Chodzko.   Georgia. Very closely related to P. major and P. anatolica, differing from both in the stems prostrate below, and the corolla scarcely exceeding the inner sepals. The Turkish specimens were determined by Tamamschian but have not been seen by us.
