S. aucheri Bentham in Ann. Sci. Nat. ser. 2, 6:38 (1836).   Perennial herb. Stems (30-)60-100 cm, erect, eglandular-pilose below, glabrous and sometimes glaucous above, often purplish. Leaves mostly towards base of stem, simple or occasionally with one pair of lateral lobes, 4-10(-13.5) x 2-5(-6) cm, elliptic to ovate-elliptic, adpressed white pubescent below, margin finely crenulate; petiole 1.5-4 cm. Inflorescence paniculate; verticil-lasters 2-flowered or irregularly so, clearly distant; bracts and bracteoles present. Pedicels 3-4 mm, erecto-patent. Calyx ovate- to tubular-campanulate, 6-8 mm, densely glandular pilose, striate; upper lip clearly tridentate. Corolla lilac, c. 25 mm; tube straight below, widening above, annulate; upper lip ± straight. Stamens A. Nutlets rounded trigonous, c. 3 x 3 mm. Fl 7-10. Stony slopes, screes, rock crevices, Quercus & Pinus (brutia and pallasiana) woodland, 550-1350 m. 1. Leaves ovate-elliptic to elliptic, 4-10(-13.5) x 2-5(-6) cm var. aucheri 1. Leaves ± linear-elliptic, 1-2 x 0.4-1 cm , var. canescens var. aucheri.   Described from Cilicia.   S. Anatolia. C5 Niğde: Ulukişla, Aksaray to Adana, Darrah 230!
