Endemic. Euxine (mt.) element. The flowers of subsp. paphlagonica are yellow, as in subsp. ochroleuca. The specimens seen exhibit a remarkably uniform facies and possess constantly elongate-elliptic to lyrate lower leaves. The upper leaves are pinnatisect with linear (sometimes dentate) segments.
S. bipinnata C. Koch from Caucasia, is very close to S. columbaria subsp. ochroleuca, and is recorded from E. Anatolia in F1. URSS 24:77 (i'957). I have seen no material, but feel that it is likely that the two are synonymous. A Koch record from Istanbul is probably a misidentification for S. columbaria subsp. ochroleuca.
