Medit. element? Most closely related to S. kotschyana, from which it is readily separated by glabrous calyx and capsules. S. praeterita, which Heywood considered to be allied to S. vernalis, is here considered synonymous with S. cryptophila. A specimen from C2 Muğla (Girdev G., 1760 m, D. 13754!) resembles S. cryptophila but differs in having calyx lobes with a very narrow scarious margin. Heywood (op, cit. 77, 1952) recognized this specimen as a distinct form of S. cryptophila. |
