E. Caucasus, Iranian Talysch. The distinction between S. listoniae and S. obtusifolium largely appears to be in the size of the plants; the former is considered to be larger than the latter. The material of S. listoniae (including S. proponticum), however, agrees well with the photograph seen of the type of S. obtusifolium, at least vegetatively. Other differences cited, such as the indumentum of the ilowering stems and shape of the sepals, appear to be fairly trivial though more material from E. Anatolia and the Caucasus is required before, their constancy
can be ascertained. In view of the doubts concerning the status of the taxa included here, I have preferred to take a wide view of S. obtusifoliurn.
