Shrub to 10-40 cm. Flowering stems ascending or erect, simple or sometimes divaricately branched, recurved-pubescent mainly on two opposite sides. Leaves Linear to linear-lanceolate, obtuse, glabrous or sparsely ciliate towards base. Inflorescence ovate to oblong-attenuate, l-8(-10) cm, usually dense (rarely lower verticillasters ± distant). Bracts lanceolate, usually shortly ciliate. Bracteoles similar but acute-acuminate, densely long-ciliate, purplish, 1.5-2 x calyx. Calyx 4-6 mm, becoming purplish-brown and deciduous in fruit. Corolla purple, 12-16 mauve or pink, 12-16 mm, glandular-punctate. Fl. 6-7.
