W. Syria. E. Medit. element. Rather variable. Many Turkish specimens have comparatively small leaves, capsules and seeds and an indistinct chalazal podium. They resemble V. debilis rather strongly and have been described as V. debilis subsp. aksekiensis. Further studies are needed to find out if they represent an entity well distinct from the type. No literature records have been considered because of frequent confusion with other species.
