C. macropodum Boiss. in Ann. Sci. Nat. ser. 3, 2:64 (1844). Biennial 40-120 cm, with thick tap root and branched stems terete above, sulcate below, with long ± spreading white hairs. Lower leaves broadly ovate-triangular, 20-30x16-34 cm, 4-pinnate, ultimate segments ± ovate, deeply divided into minute (up to 2 mm) lobes, hoary-canescent, petiole shorter than rachis. Rays 5-8, unequal, widely spreading, 1-7-5 cm. Bracts 0-1. Bracteoles c. 5, ovate-elliptic, ciliate, c. 3x1 mm. Pedicels c. 12, ± equalling bracts in flower. Outer petals radiant, up to 4 mm. Fruiting pedicels elongating and thickening, ± as long as fruit. Fruit 2-6 per umbellule, linear oblong, 1.5-3 cm x c. 1.5 mm, stylopodium ± flat. Fl. 6-7.
