A. biebersteinii Afan. in Not. Syst. (Leningrad) 19:361 (1959). Syn: A. micrantha Willd., Sp. Pl. 3(3): 2209 (1803) non Willd., Tract, de Achilleis 33 (1789). Ic: Boul., Fl. Lib. Syr., Atlas t. 219 f. 1 (1930) as A. micrantha. Figure 11, p. 231.
Height 10-100 cm. Stems terete, longitudinally striped, ± densely spreading-pubescent. Leaves loosely or ± densely pilose, 2-3-pinnatisect, cauline similar to basal, median cauline linear to linear-lanceolate, 2.5-12 x 0.5-2.5 cm, rachis entire, 0.5-1 mm, primary segments numerous, ultimate segments setaceous to linear (to lanceolate), acute to acuminate, l-4(-6) x 0.2-1 mm. Capitula 30-200 and more, corymbs 2-10 cm broad, peduncles 0.5-4 mm. Involucre oblong to broadly ovoid, 3-4 x 2-3 mm. Phyllaries ovate-triangular to oblong, ± obtuse, pale, pubescent, inner with scarious tip. Ligules 4-5, golden yellow, 1-2 mm; disc flowers 10-30. Fl. 5-9. Coniferous forest, steppe, dry meadows, rocky slopes, fallow fields, 350-3450 m.
Described from Cappadocia (Anatolia). Lectotype (A. micrantha of 1803) designated here: B-Willd. 16356/5 (photo!).
