Endemic. It.-Tur. element? Placed in Sect. Succisocrepis on account of the rhizomatous rootstock and therefore related to C. aurea and C. karakuschensis Czer. (Fl. URSS 29:755, 1964) from Transcaucasia. Babcock separated C. albiflora from C. dioritica on flower and achene colour, size of corolla and stylar arms and on indumentum and phyllary characters. With the material now available it is not possible to maintain them as separate species, the only difference being that of flower colour. C. dioritica was described on dried material by Boissier as having 'ligulae pallide flavae', a description aptly fitting the dried specimens of the white-flowered plants. Further gatherings with detail of flower colour from the Taurus region are needed. Bornmüller (Feddes Rep. 49:246, 1940) records C. dioritica from C5 Adana: Ala Da., 2400 m, Ellenberg 1043 (B!). This is a misidentification of C. willdenowii Czer. Birand (Preliminary list of species collected in Turkey, 304, 1952) cites Balls 1795 as C. heterotricha D C. This is a Persian species related to C. armena and is not known from Turkey.
