D. hakkiaricum J.R.Edmondson in Notes R.B.G. Edinb. 32:255 (1972). Map 13, p. 141. ' Plant 100-150 cm. Stem moderately pilose. Leaves moderately to densely glandular-hairy; basal leaves ovate-cordate, 14-18 x 15-18 cm, subacute, margins sparsely clad with short-stalked glands, petioles 20-25 cm, with long multiseriate hairs and short-stalked glands; cauline leaves few and relatively large, ovate to obovate, lowest markedly panduriform, sessile, amplexicaul, clad with numerous short-stalked and some long-stalked glands, sometimes also with blunt-tipped multiseriate hairs. Capitula numerous, up to 18, disc up to 2.5 cm broad; peduncles very densely long-stalked and short-stalked glandular, conical-thickened at apex; each branch of stem bearing a shortly-stalked head, l-2(-4)cm, at apex, and (l-)2(-3) longer-peduncled capitula, 5-7 cm, arising laterally. Phyllaries lanceolate, acute to acuminate, densely clothed with long- and short-stalked glands. Fl. 8. Mountain flushes, 2900 m. Type: Turkey C9 Hakkari: Kara Da., flush, 2900 m, 15 viii 1954, Davis & O.Polunin, D. 24383 (holo. E! iso. BM, K!). The species extends into Nakhichevan, from where it is known from a singlegathering: Kechal Da., in humidis, 2600-2700 m, 4 viii 1934, J.Prilipko & J. Isaev (K!); in addition, a rather late-gathered specimen from Iraq: Algurd Da., on mountain slope, 3000-3300 m, 3 ix 1957, A. el Rawi & Serhang (K!), also approaches this species. Ir.-Tur. element.
