Endemic? Ir.-Tur. element. Subsp. aucheri is characterized by the presence of densely lanate, spathulate basal leaves.
The following specimens appear to be somewhat intermediate between subspp. rubicundum and aucheri. They have oblanceolate-spathulate leaves and sometimes apricot capitula like members of subsp. rubicundum, but usually non-undulate leaves and flat phyllaries as in subsp. aucheri. The letters after each citation are used, as in subsp. rubicundum, to indicate leaf-waviness and colour of capitula: A6 Sivas: 17 km W. of Suşehri, 780 m, M.Zohary 971124 (ab)!
