I. viscidula Boiss. & Kotschy in Boiss., Fl. Or. 3:188 (1875). Rhizomatous perennial herb. Stems ± erect, 60-100 cm, leafy, subglabrous, usually with scattered sessile glands. Leaves ovate-lanceolate, 6-12x1∙5-3 cm, acute or acuminate at apex, sessile, cordate, semi-amplexicaul at base; margin sharply denticulate and scabrous, covered with sessile glands especially beneath. Capitula shortly radiate, in loose corymbs. Involucre 2-2∙5 cm broad; phyllaries subequal, 3-4-seriate; outer linear-lanceolate, acuminate, 1-1∙5 cm, foliaceous, squarrose, glabrous, glandular; inner subscarious, erect, ciliate at apex. Ray flowers c. 35, ligules c. 15 mm. Disc flowers c. 7 mm. Achenes 2-2∙5 mm, 10-ribbed, finely pubescent above. Pappus brownish, 6-7 mm; hairs scabrous, c. 30, free at base. Fl. 8-9. To some extent intermediate between I. salicina as regards leaf shape and branched inflorescence, and . orientalis so far as the elongated glandular phyllaries are concerned. |
