J. pulchella DC, Prodr. 6:676 (1838). Syn: Serratulapidchella Fisch. & Mey. in DC., loc. cit., nomen pro syn. Map 48, p. 449. Perennial; stems 20-60 cm, adpressed-canescent, woody at base, densely leafy below, sparingly leafy and branched above. Lower leaves pinnatisect, segments and undivided upper leaves linear, 5-60 x 1-2 mm, with revolute margin. Capitula borne in corymbs; branchlets (peduncles) 1.5-8 cm. Involucre ovate-oblong, 12-15 x 6-10 mm; phyllaries c. 5-seriate, lanceolate, strongly adpressed, not spiny, with prominent dark keel (median nerve). Flowers lilac-pink. Achenes 6 mm, coronulate, smooth. Pappus hairs scabrous, slightly longer than achenes. Fl. 7-9. Hillsides, rocky slopes, steppe and fields, 1400-2500 m.
