Ratherstiff suffrutescentdensely-branchedperennial; steml5-45 cm, ascending, ± divaricately branched, silvery-white, slender, glabrous or thinly white-floccose and glabrescent. Lower and median cauline leaves runcinate-pinnatisect, with 2-10 often narrow lateral lobes, sessile, glabrous or white-floccose and glabrescent, somewhat succulent, 1-8x0.3-2.7 cm, 0.3-2.8 cm decurrent; upper smaller, becoming lanceolate, entire. Inflorescence much-branched, branches spiciform with numerous sessile solitary lateral capitula; peduncles and bracts glabrous or sometimes thinly white-floccose. Involucre 8.5-17 mm, longer in fruit than in flower; phyllaries 8-11, 3-4-seriate, often pink-tinged, glabrous or thinly floccose. Flowers 1.5-2.1 cm, almost glabrous, ligules sometimes tinged reddish on back. Achenes 8-9.7 mm, dull brown, attenuate into 2-3.2 mm beak. Pappus white, 6-9 mm. Fl. 7-9. Rocky slopes, fallow fields, 800-2700 m.
