S. inaequiscapa Boiss., Fl. Or. 3:762 (1875). Subscapigerous perennial, 12-20 cm; rootstock swollen, tuberous. Leaves entire, 4-13 x 0.5-1.4 cm; lamina lanceolate to linear-lanceolate, contracted below into a short petiole but expanding again into an amplexicaul base, sparsely crisped-pubescent. Capitula 1 per stem, 18-25 mm long. Inner phyllaries c. 20 mm, glabrous to crisped-pubescent. Flowers pale yellow. Achenes c. 7 x 1 mm, cylindrical, ridged, transversely rugulose-tuberculate, glabrous; pappus dirty white, hairs plumose below, barbellate above. Fl. 6. Fallow clay fields. Type: [Turkey A8 Gümüşane] in arvis derelictis argillosis Armeniae Turcicae prope Baibut, 26 vi 1862, Bourgeau 141 (iso. K! LD!). C. & E. Anatolia, rare. B5 Yozgat: Akdağmadeni forest station, Curtis 177! An endemic species of uncertain affinity. The Yozgat plant has narrower leaves and more hairy phyllaries than the type. |
