Or. 3:328 (1875). Figure 8, p. 179. Biennial or perennial, tufted or erect, 5-70 cm. Stems 1 to many, eitherprofusely branched or unbranched above. Leaves 1-2-pinnatisect; laciniae filiform-setaceous, aristate at tips. Capitula 3 to numerous, laxly corymbose, disciform, heterogamous, 4-10 mm broad, borne on long, unequal peduncles. Phyllaries lanceolate or oblanceolate, obtuse, white-membranous at margins. Receptacle large, ovoid-oblong. Corolla lobes glandular at tips. Achenes ± prismatic, linear, 1-1.4x0.5 mm, slightly mucilaginous, anteriorly ± smooth, rarely tuberculate, posteriorly 3-ribbed, obscurely tuberculate, ribs very thin, white; corona absent. Fl. 6-9. Damp places {meadows, fields or river beds etc.), cornfields etc., 800-2286 m. Type: [Caucasus] in pratis subhumidis altiorum montium Talüsch (alt. 1000 hexap.) [Meyer]. Scattered, absent from N.
