Mittel-Eur. 5(3): f. 3137 (1927). Perennial. Stems ascending to erect, 14-50 cm, usually much-branched. Basal leaves narrowly elliptic, lamina to 12x3.5 cm, obtuse, attenuate into 4-6 cm, petiole; cauline ovate to oblong, to 7x 3.2 cm, obtuse, sessile, cordate-amplexi-caul. Bracts usually greenish. Calyx divided to 1/2 or almost to base, lobes lanceolate, obtuse, glabrous. Corolla with yellow lobes and yellow to greenish-yellow tube with purple band around throat, 32-14 x 3.5-4.5 mm, lobes broadly ovate, erect to recurved. Nutlets dark brown, ovoid-acuminate, c. 4x3 mm sharply beaked, keeled ventrally and in upper 1/2 dorsally. Fl. 6-8. Pinus sylvestris and Abies forest, roadsides, rock ledges, limestone slopes, 1600-3300 m. Described from Italy and S. France. N. & E. Anatolia, local.
