M. platyphylla Boiss., Fl. Or. 4:237 (1875). Figure 12, p. 267. Biennial to perennial, to 40 cm, erect, branched only in upper part; leafy part above with ± antrorse hairs, below with deflexed setae. Median cauline leaves largest; leaves to 60x 15 mm, ovate, with scattered short adpressed hairs. Inflorescence comparatively dense, ebracteate; pedicels not very elongated, to 10 mm in fruit. Calyx accrescent to 5 mm in fruit, divided to 1/2, lobes very narrowly triangular; tube with curved subadpressed hairs at base, subglabrous in upper part. Limb of corolla to 5 mm diam., flat, blue. Nutlets 1.4x0-8 mm, narrowly ovate, black, attachment scar reniform, with ligulate white appendage. Fl. 8-9. By streams, 1830-2900 m. Type: [Turkey B8 Muş] in valle Teng Armeniae Turcicae prov. Musch, 1830 m, Kotschy Suppl. 699 (holo. G! iso. W!). S.E. Anatolia; rare. C9 Hakkari: Kara Da., 2900 m, D. 24388 p.p.! Endemic. Ir.-Tur. element. Related to M. amoena and M. propinqita. It very much resembles M. sylvatica subsp. rivularis in habit with which it has quite often been confused. The nutlets are not absolutely mature and may develop further. |
