O. armeniacum KIokov in Not. Syst. (Leningrad) 14:301 (1951) ex Popov in Fl. URSS 19:214 (1953). Syn: O. hispidum Steven in Bull. Soc. Nat. Mosc. 24:587, 592 (1851) non Wallich (1828); O. echioides L. var. hispidum Steven ex C.Koch in Linnaea 17:305 (1843). Biennial. Stem 32-50 cm, much-branched below middle, patent-hispid, shortly hairy. Basal leaves not seen; cauline 60-80x 5-6(-8) mm, linear-oblong, sessile, acute to obtuse, margins revolute, ± patent-setose and with tubercles lacking setae above, subglabrous beneath. Inflorescence much-branched, cymes becoming elongated and straight after flowering. Bracts to 22 mm, linear-lanceolate. Pedicels 3-4 mm in flower, to 10 mm in fruit. Calyx 16-20 mm, lobes linear, acute, hispid. Corolla cream, 20-22 mm, cylindrical to cylindrical-campanulate, pubescent. Anthers semi-exserted, equalling filaments. Nutlets 4-4.5 x 3.5-4 mm, with broad shoulders and acute beak, brownish. Fl. 6-8. Fallow fields-, steppe, 1400-2500 m. Described from USSR - 'Caucasus australia (Minor)'. Easternmost Anatolia.
