D. cappadocica Boiss. & Bal. in Boiss., Diagn. ser. 2(6): 14 (1859). Syn: D. calycosa Boiss. & Bal. in Boiss., Fl. Or. 1: 299 (1867), excl. var. aucheri Boiss. Perennial herb, forming rounded tufts. Caudiculi leafy only near the top. Scapes up to 2 cm, villous. Leaves linear to linear-obovate, soft, overlapping, canescent with stellate hairs. Petals yellow, c. 4 mm. Ovary with 16-24 ovules. Siliculae ovoid, as long as broad. Fl. 6. Roek crevices, slopes, 2400-2900 m. Type: [Turkey B5 Kayseri] in regione alpina montis Argaei Cappadociae, Balansa. Scattered in C. Anatolia & Kurdistan. B5 Kayseri: Ercias Da., 2400 m, Zed. Niğde: Hasan Da., 2700-2900 m, D. 18955! B9 Van: Ispiriz Da., 3400 m, D. 23685! Endemic; Ir.-Tur. element, most resembling D. acaulis. A specimen from B9 Van: Kepir Da., 2800 m, D. 23336 is similar to the specimens cited above, but is much larger, and woody below. It may represent a new species morphologically closest to D. cappadocica or a subspecies of it; more material is necessary before its status can be decided. Another specimen, Hub.-Mor. 13759 from A7 Giresun: 9-11 km N of Şebinkarahisar, 1300-1330 m, is similar to D. cappa-docica but has longer fruits, very acuminate at the apex; in this character it resembles D. vesicaria Boiss. from W. Syria. Unfortunately the specimen is in very old fruit and its exact identification is impossible. It may represent a new taxon, and should be looked for again. |
