Annual, 15-40 cm, usually much branched, leafy up to and including the inflorescence. Basal leaves petiolate, oblong-lanceolate, toothed, pinnatifid or entire; upper leaves petiolate, oblong-lanceolate, margins entire,;acute at apex. Petals 1 mm. Fruiting pedicels c. 1 x 1-1.5 mm. Fruit ± densely covered with branched white hairs, 3x1.5-2 mm, including the beak, 1-1.5 mm, which is curved away from stem. Fl. 4-6. Steppe and fields, 1400-1900 m.

Fedtsch. in adjacent parts of the Transcaucasus (e.g. Yerevan) suggests that it may grow in the easternmost pro-vinces of Turkey. E. tenuissimum is readily distinguished from E. syriacum by the longer, straight beak of the fruit. It is sometimes recognised as a separate genus, Litwinowia Woron.
