Transcaucasia, N. Iraq, W. & N.W. Iran. Ir.-Tur. element. A variable, rather widespread but overlooked species, closely allied to the Transcaucasian I. iberica Stev. which has been erroneously recorded from Turkey; the latter differs in its shaggy indumentum and pinnately lobed basal leaves. Material of I. buschiana without ripe fruit may be readily mistaken for I. tinctoria or I. lusitanica. I.glabrisiliqua Blakelock (from N. Iraq) may be conspecific. but also intergrades with I. guestii Blakelock from the same area. The group requires further collecting and study.
