Fruit c. 10 x 2.5-3 mm, narrowly oblong, rounded at apex and base, glabrous or puberulent subsp. corymbosa subsp. tomentella (Boiss.) Davis in Notes R.B.G. Edinb., 26: 22 (1964). Figure 16, p. 293. Syn: I. tinctoria var. stenocarpa Boiss., Fl. Or., 1: 381 (1867)! I. tomentella Boiss., Diagn., ser. 2(5): 46 (1856)! Fl. 5-8. Rocky slopes, scrub, waste places, 160-2400 m. Type: [Turkey Bl Manisa] in regione media montis Sipyli supra Magnesiam Lydiae, Balansa 85 (K! W!). Scattered in S. & E. Anatolia. B6 Seyhan: Amanus, c. Düldül, 1700-2300 m, Haradj. 2427! B8 Bingöl: Bingöl, 1800 m, Kotschy 1859: 754! B9 Bitlis: crater of Nemrut Da., 2400 m, McNeill 553! C4 Antalya: Alanya. 160 m, Hub.-Mor. 10448! C5 Niğde: Maaden, 1500 m, Siehe 1898: 167 (p.p.)! C9 Hakkari: Cilo Da. below Cilo Y., 2700 m, D. 24242! Greece. Probably much commoner than the Turkish records suggest. Flower- , ing specimens from N. Anatolia may belong here. Alpine material from E. Anatolia is perennant and can be difficult to separate from I. takhtajanii (q.v.). Some Transcaucasian specimens referred by Avetisian (1963) to I. canescens DC. may represent I. tinctoria subsp. toinentella. |
