Annual or biennial, 20-100 cm, with an indumentum of long stiff white hairs at base of stem and on leaves. ± glabrous above. Basal leaves not rosette-forming, runcinate-pinnatifid with 6-8 pairs of lateral lobes. Petals yellow, (6-)9-12 x 4-4.5 mm. Fruiting pedicels 5-12 mm, obliquely erect. Siliquae (2.5-)8-l 1 cm x c. 1 mm, straight, held at same angle as the pedicels; valves glabrous, thick-walled, obscurely nerved, style 1-2 mm. Radicle incumbent or obliquely so. Fl. 3-6. Cultivated land and waste places, s.1.-1400 m. Described from Italy, France and Siberia (Hb. Linn. 836/32 photo!). Widespread except in the east. A1(A) Çanakkale: Bunarbahçe, Sint. 1894: 1017.
