. Shortly pubescent, robust biennial, 60-100{-120) cm. Stem 1 cm diam. below, erect, simple, branched from middle, striate by decurrent middle nerves of leaves. Rosette-leaves and lower cauline leaves many, oblong-lanceolate, acuminate, (4-)6-12(-18) x (l-)2-3 cm, narrowed into 5-8(-10) cm petiole, mostly dentate, rarely entire, undulate; upper cauline similar, smaller, gradually reduced toward stem apex, sessile. Inflorescence spicate-paniculate. Flowers sessile in clusters of 2-3. Bracts rotund-reniform, ± amplexicaul, dentate, 6-10 x 3-10 mm. Calyx lobes lanceolate, glabrous, 3-4 x 1-1.2 mm, erect. Corolla lobes 6-8(-10)x 2-2.5 mm. Stigmas 3. Capsule ellipsoid or rounded, 4-6 x 3-5 mm, opening by 3 large ± apical pores. Seeds ellipsoid-rounded, 1.5-1.7 x 0.9-1 mm, light brown or brown, shiny. Fl. 6-7. Rocky slopes, 1850-2800 m.
