C. gnaphalodes Fenzl in Russegger, Reise 2: 929 (1841-3). Caespitose perennial. At least the young leaves and pedicels floccose-lanate with white hairs. Stems usually ascending, 5-15 cm. Leaves oblong-elliptic, ± acute. Inflorescence 1-few-flowered, rather strict. Bracts with broad scarious margins. Sepals oblong-lanceolate, 5-9 mm, with broad scarious margins, sparsely pilose to floccose-lanate. Petals 10-13 mm. Capsule a little longer than the calyx, opening by flat teeth. Fl. 6-9.
