D.zederbaueri Vierh. in Ann. Nat. Hofm. Wien 20: 391 (1905). Figure 1, p. 105. Like D. multicaulis but base slender, creeping, calyx 12 x 2.5 mm, narrowed above, teeth 3.5 mm, linear-acuminate, bracteole points setaceous, petal limb narrowly ovate, subentire (in type), white or pink, up to 6 mm. Fl. 7. Slopes, 1500-2300 m. Type: [Turkey B5 Kayseri] Erdschias Dagh [Ercias Da.].... auf sandigen Abhangen____2300 m, 22 vii 1902, Zederbauer (holo. WU!). B6 Sivas: Ulaş to Malatya, 25 km S of Ulaş, 1500 m, Birand & Karamanoglu 149. B7 Erzincan: Erzincan to Refahiye, 30 km W of Erzincan, Reese. Endemic. Ir.-Tur. element. The following specimens agree with the type except in having dentate petals: A7 Gümüşane: Gümüşane, 1330 m, Balls 1710; A8 Gümüşane: Bayburt, 2100 m, Balls 1397a; B8 Erzurum: Palandöken, vii 1955, Attila; B9 Van: Hoşap, 1 vii 1955, Attila. In some plants the base is rambling and woody, in others densely tufted. The former is probably a result of growth in scree and loose rocks, the latter in turf. |
