Perennial with woody stock and numerous ascending-erect stems, glabrous below, branches of inflorescence glandular-hairy above the nodes; stems 30-60 cm. Leaves lanceolate to linear-lanceolate, acute, 15-30 x 3-8 mm with 1-3 prominent veins. Inflorescence a very many flowered, rather dense panicle. Bracts scarious, lanceolate-acuminate. Pedicels 2-15 mm. Calyx 2-3.5 mm, campanulate, white with green or reddish midrib, glabrous with numerous minute calcium oxalate druses, with broad ovate, obtuse, apiculate and often imbricate teeth. Petals 3-5 mm, white to pale pink, linear, obtuse to retuse, claw broader than limb. Seeds with obtuse tubercles. Fl. 6-8. Steppe, dry rocky slopes, 850-2000 m. Type: S.W.
